Spell effect

Choose one object you can see within range that has a mundane or magical means preventing access, such as a door, chest, set of manacles, padlock, or barred opening. A mundane lock, stuck door, or bar is released. If the object has several locks, the spell opens only one of them.

If arcane lock secures the target, that spell is suppressed for 10 minutes. The object can be opened and closed normally during that time.

The standard spell creates a loud knock audible from as far as 300 feet away.

Stormglass Key version

  • Access: The Stormglass Key can cast the spell once per dawn.
  • Components: No material components are required; the normal verbal component still applies.
  • Changed sound: The key produces a low rumble of thunder instead of a sharp knock. It remains audible and can alert nearby creatures at the Game Master’s discretion.

Rules notes

The spell opens or suppresses one locking mechanism. It does not remove traps, reveal what is beyond the object, or permanently dispel arcane lock.
