While wearing this rare wondrous item, a creature has resistance to fire damage. Once per dawn, immediately after failing an Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma saving throw, the wearer can reroll the save and must use the new result. The safe circlet is intentionally incomplete and cannot command volcanic pressure.
Lore
The circlet preserves the protective purpose of the Ashfall Crown without its authority over the caldera. Its empty settings honor Queen Avara’s decision to break the original artifact rather than pretend its corrupting power could be mastered forever.
Game Master Guidance
The reroll is strong protection against a dramatic mental effect but cannot be saved after the player learns later consequences. If the party tries to install another shard, the circlet becomes dormant until the shard is removed. This keeps the reward useful without reopening the saga’s central danger.
