Dawnless Bell

A rare bronze handbell set with pale sea glass that creates protective silence after the Drowned Bell ritual is ended.

Properties

Wondrous item, rare, requires attunement. Once per dawn as an action, the bearer rings the bell and casts silence centered on a point within 60 feet for up to one minute; this version requires no concentration. Once per long rest, when a creature willingly enters that silence, it gains 8 temporary hit points. Each creature can gain this benefit only once per use.

Lore

The handbell is forged from the Drowned Bell’s safely removed clapper. Four sea-glass settings record the four choices that ended the coastal haunting.

Game Master guidance

The bearer chooses the center when activating the bell and cannot move the area afterward. The effect is magical but otherwise follows silence. Temporary hit points do not stack, and creatures forced into the area gain none.

Related use

The item is designed as a memorable reward rather than a requirement for later play. A party without it can solve every related scene with the listed checks, tools, spells, or environmental choices.
